You have to Exercise to Fight Type 2 Diabetes!!!
There are no escapes from Exercise, which is a critical part of the fight against Type II Diabetes.
Exercise will help you up your metabolism, increase muscle mass, help keep sugars down. There are no magic pills that can help you avoid exercise.
Types of Exercises
You can do what works for you. Most of the time we have to start small and increase it over time. Remember it is not something you have to or should do in a single shot. Small doses throughout the day work best.
Do a variety of exercises and remember to do some weight training. More muscle means better sugars.
| Cleaning |
People do not think of just picking up and cleaning around the house as a great exercise. This is infact one of the best things to do. It gets you moving around as well as leads to a cleaner space. Lots of intrinsic benefits. So stop investing in robots or planning on getting help, get moving yourself.
|
| Walking |
A smiple but highly effective exercise. Try and do atleast one mile walks when you do. Do not have to walk really fast, the idea to to be moving. If the weather does not cooperate, go to a mall, walk in the house while watching your favorite show.
|
| Running |
A great exercise. Remember to get good shoes. As Diabetics you got to take care of your feet. Do not overdo and hurt yourself, you do not want bed time. If it hurts your kness etc to run on the asphalt, go to a high school playground with soft turf to run on, get a treadmill.
|
| Swimming |
An excellent overall exercise. A note of caution to folks on medications, keep track of your sugars in teh water. A hypoglycemic incident in the water is very dangerous. Always have a lifeguard or a friend around when in water.
|
| Cycling |
An amaxing exercise for diabetics. Works great. Gentle use or the cyle is great for the heart, muscles and sugars. Additonally you get to see lots of interesting things as you cylce past. Get your groceries done on a bike instaed of a car. Same some gas, help the environment and your self.
|
| Weights |
Excellent addition to other aerobic exercises. Keeps the muscles healthy and strong. Healthy muscle means better consumption of sugar out of your blood stream. Huge benefit for us diabetics.
|
| Any active sports |
The idea is to be moving. Stationary activity is not good. You have to make the muscles work so that they want and need the sugar which is ready available in our blood streams.
